«Ma démarche est issue du désir d’explorations des espaces urbains.  Par la substitution, la transposition ou la juxtaposition d’éléments constitutifs d’une ville à une autre, se constituent de nouveaux lieux apparentés.  Je m’intéresse aussi aux microcosmes formés par les textures de substances, les effets de la lumière et l’apparition accidentelle de formes reconnaissables dans des contextes inattendus. Ma pratique se matérialise sous diverses formes: performance, installation, vidéo, médiums du dessin et de la peinture, photographie.»

Sylvie Laplante a fait ses études en arts à l’université Concordia, puis en théâtre à l’UQAM au Québec, et en France.  Elle a fait partie de différents groupes de création théâtrales de 1994 à 2003.  Elle vit à Montréal.

«Using performance, installation and video, sketching, painting and photography, I am interested in exploration and perception of urban landscapes and patterns.  By substituting or transposing elements from a city to another, appear new related locations.  I’m also interested in microcosms shaped by the textures of substances, the effect of light and the accidental appearances of recognizable forms in unexpected contexts.»
